7 Essential Oils Every Man Should Have

Even though the majority of essential oil users are women, we wanted to share some essential oils that might be beneficial to either the man in your life or someone you might know.  As the essential oil revolution is growing, more and more men are using essential oils.  Essential oils are no longer just a woman thing.  

 

Here are a seven essential oils that men can use on a daily basis.  

 

1. Chamomile Oil

 

Chamomile oil is one of the most ancient essential oils.  Most people know it from drinking chamomile tea but there a number of other benefits as well.

 

Chamomile Oil has been used to support the fight against depression and anxiety.  Drinking chamomile tea throughout the day may put you in a better mood and reduce your anxiety.

 

As we’re heading into summer, allergies are creeping into the household.   Chamomile has been widely known to use for hay fever because of it’s antimicrobial properties.  It also has properties to support mucous decongestion, skin conditions and irritations associated with food allergies.

 

In a 2006 study, chamomile was reported to have effects on sleep and mood.  The study found that participants who used chamomile essential oil felt more drowsy and calmness as opposed to not using the oil.  By inhaling the oil, someone might find it beneficial in getting a better nights rest.

But what a lot of people don’t realize is that lavender is a great way for a man to relax either after a hard days work, and intense workout or just playing hard on the weekends.  Men, in general, have a hard time relaxing because of the way their DNA is wired.    They were the ones thousands of years ago that had to bring in the food, protect the tribe and make sure everyone was safe.   Sometimes he just needs to relax.  Using lavender in a diffuser in the evening can help promote relaxation, coldness and a feeling of peacefulness.

 

A great way to use lavender oil is to put a few drops into shampoo in the evening to help relax the body from the head down.

 

You can also rub lavender on the bottom of your be to help you relax right before you go to bed.

 

6.  Peppermint  

 

Peppermint essential oil can be used in so many ways. Not only does it help support different digestive issues, it can freshen bad breath, improved mental focus, give you more energy and help with sore muscles.

 

Peppermint oil can be used throughout the day by inhaling through diffuser or putting a few drops on your palms, rubbing them together and inhaling for 30 seconds. This is a great way to boost your mood if you begin to feel sluggish or tired.

 

If you’re a man and you’re trying to lose weight, peppermint oil is a great way to reduce hunger cravings. By inhaling peppermint essential oil, you can reduce your cravings for snacks and help you feel full faster. You can also apply a few drops on your chest or stomach as well.

 

If you want wake up faster, put a few peppermint essential oil drops into shampoo and rub it into your scalp. This will not only stimulate your brain, will energize your mind and wake you up three times faster than normal.   As a side note, because it has antiseptic properties, it can and may help remove dandruff.

 

If you’re out camping in the wilderness, peppermint oil is a natural bug repellent.  Insects can’t stand a sense of peppermint essential oil so they will stay away from anything that has it.

 

One of the most effective ways that I use peppermint essential oil is when I have a stomachache.   I take a few drops of peppermint and put it in a glass of water.   After drinking the glass of water I’ll get a few more drops of peppermint and rub them on my stomach.  This has done wonders for when I have sour stomach or maybe have eaten too much.

 

Lastly, peppermint essential oil is a great way to keep your breath smelling great. Just a drop of it while brushing your teeth or during the day putting a drop in your mouth and/or rubbing your teeth with it will keep your breath fresh and nice.

 

 

7. Lemon Oil  

 

Lemon oil is a great way to support metabolism, cleanse your body and use in cooking recipes.

 

One of the most creative ways to use lemon essential oil is to whiten your teeth with it. If you mix lemon essential oil, coconut oil and baking soda and rub it on your teeth for a few minutes it may make your teeth whiter. There are a number of YouTube videos that explain how to do this.
